Rehearsal Skills
We use the one-point rehearsal rule. To retain your point on a daily basis, you must:
● Be prepared with your instrument, a pencil, and your music
● Be engaged in the rehearsal for the entire class
● Resist the temptation to use your cell phone
● Try your best to perform at the level required for the ensemble.
Rehearsal skills will be put in the grade book by week. Please note that a student who has an unexcused absence from class will not be allowed to make up that point. Students who miss 5 or more rehearsals during a quarter may be asked not to perform at the concert (an alternate assignment will be given).
Performances
As a performance-based class instead of homework assignments, we have several public performances. The concert on October 30th is required for students in grades 10-12, but the ninth grade students are encouraged to attend as an audience member. The football pep bands are required for all band students; there are three of these. For the other pep bands, students need to attend 3 of the 5 are required. If your family has a conflict, Mr. Kleppe asks that the student emails him at least a week before the event. They will be excused from the performance if this is done.
